Public bug reported:

On a fresh install of Gutsy Beta with all updates, my soundcard is not
recognized at all - it is as if I did not have a sound card in my
computer. My soundcard is an Intel HDA. I am unable to find the codec
through any of the commands below, but the bios reports it as Sigmatel
STAC9205

Here is the info as requested in Debugging Sound Problems:

aplay --list-devices
>>aplay: device_list:204: no soundcards found...

tail -2 /proc/asound/oss/sndstat
>>Mixers: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

amixer
>>amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device

cat /etc/asound.conf ~/.asoundrc*
>>cat: /etc/asound.conf: No such file or directory
cat: /home/kyle/.asoundrc*: No such file or directory

asoundconf list
>>Names of available sound cards:

Additional command outputs attached
