Of course it is related, because both bugs report similar symptoms -- Xorg crashing/freezing with "drm/i915: Resetting chip after gpu hang" error after running Libreoffice. Of course LO is an unlikely cause, rather it is something in Xorg, so the other bug is more appropriate.
