I have a shuttle xpc with a on board ATI Technologies Inc RS480 [Radeon Xpress 200G Series] the xpc has a VGA output that I have connected to a DELL 24'' wide screen 1920x1200 and a DVI port that I have connect to HDMI HDTV with 1080i support.
If I connect the VGA cable to the xpc, the xrandr resolution detection works as expected. if I connect the DVI cable to the xpc box, (to have dual screen) xrandr does not detect the new monitor. If I restart the xserver, I get the resolutions of the HD TV but only one screen is detected by xrandr, and only the HDTV is displaying the image with a good resolution, the DELL monitor is in 1280x1024 (and you cannot see the full screen). I'm using ATI drivers. OSS drivers: If I use the OSS version for ati driver and I connect the VGA and DVI cable, I don't image on both screens. If I connect just the VGA I get a strange resolution. I did not try using just the DVI cable with the OSS ati driver. If someone knows a work around about using a onboard ati card with dualhead configuration, with the latest ubuntu gutsy, please drop me a email. Ubuntu Feisty was even worse. I was never able to have the DELL screen at 1920x1200 and the HDTV at 1920x1080 with a big screen configuration. -- plug my HD tv makes xrandr display wrong resolution for my active screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149367 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
