I'm on Xubuntu 14.04, and experienced the same problem (after updating
netlink, neither network interfaces showed up).  Here's the update

I followed the instructions here:  
http://askubuntu.com/questions/727127/last-upgrade-crashes-network-manager-no-internet-connection-no-applet
to roll back the 3 libnl packages to the "3.2.21-1" versions, then restarted 
and the network is again operational.
