Public bug reported:

nm-applet displays the wrong icon and shows no wireless networks post-
xenial upgrade, although the network manager does continue to auto-
connect to wifi. At first, it showed the greyed-out wifi icon, though it
was connected, and now it's showing the wired connection icon despite
only being connected through wifi (see the attached file).

This is with the amd64 network-manager-gnome version
1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04

Thanks for your help!
