Mashathung, there is no additional drivers for ATI / Radeon video cards since 
there is no more proprietary drivers supported for Ubuntu 16.04 (Catalyst has 
been removed from Ubuntu scope....).
ATI cards are now supported in Ubuntu by the default "radeon" driver, which is 
a realy poor quality public driver, I think this is why Java 3D is crashing....

I really fear there is no hope to open SH3D, until the release of the AMDGPU 
open source driver, maybe this year ????
That is so sad that Ubuntu community decided to remove Catalyst.... it was 
working well...
