OK, got over both sickness and a very severe attack of real life. Herewith video showing me attempting to make another attachment to this bug after selecting the image I was able to tap the text entry field, which made the keyboard come up and the text entry field was outlined in orange but no characters entered were displayed. I flipped out to the today screen and back to the browser after which I could enter text.
Incidnetally I am attaching the video and typing /this/ entry with keyboard, mouse, and camera card in a USB reader plugged into the tablet. when using a keyboard to do this I had no similar problems.
