Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

When I use a Nvidia Riva 128 in my LTSP client, the login screen comes
up (but looks like it's a low colour depth)

I can login, but then Gnome oscillates between the ubuntu theme and a
basic GNOME theme (blue style) and my .xsession-errors log fills up
with:

gnome-panel: /build/buildd/libcairo-1.4.10/src/cairo-image-
surface.c:199: _cairo_format_from_pixman_format: Assertion `NOT_REACHED'
failed.

(x-session-manager:23019): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_xsettings_watch_cb():

(nautilus:23069): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_xsettings_watch_cb(): Couldn't find

Error: Cairo 1.4.10 does not yet support the requested image format:
        Depth: 16
        Alpha mask: 0x00000000
        Red   mask: 0x00007c00
        Green mask: 0x000003e0
        Blue  mask: 0x0000001f
Please file an enhancement request (quoting the above) at:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=cairo
gnome-panel: /build/buildd/libcairo-1.4.10/src/cairo-image-surface.c:199:
_cairo_format_from_pixman_format: Assertion `NOT_REACHED' failed.

etc.

Eventually gnome-panel crashes, and I'm left with a black screen.

This card used to work in Feisty
