This reminds me of some curiosity I experienced in Feisty: Executing the command 'echo -n 62 > /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness' didn't instantly change the brightness, only if I pressed 'Fn + down (or maybe up)' the brightness was set to the given value. But still, using only the Fn-key without the command didn't work. I can't reproduce this on Gutsy, though.
