su does not properly process the /etc/profile settings via pam (i think
it even tells so in the manpage)

snapd ships /etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh which adds /snap/bin to the
PATH when you log in, which would be processed for normal logins as well
as "sudo -u $user" by pam.
