Public bug reported: Booting with Nvidia GTX 970 hangs with an orange screen in kernels 4.7 and 4.8rc1 (but works with 4.4.0).
I've tried: * Plain yakkety 4.4.0-34-generic * Mainline kernel 4.7 * Mainline kernel 4.8rc1 and only the first one works. Kernels 4.7 and 4.8rc1 freeze with a bright orange screen. Best I can tell, the frozen orange screen coincides with kernel log messages: Aug 15 11:33:04 x51 kernel: [ 1.788277] fb: switching to nouveaufb from simple Aug 15 11:33:04 x51 kernel: [ 1.788291] Console: switching to colour dummy device 80x25 Aug 15 11:33:04 x51 kernel: [ 1.788401] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: NVIDIA GM204 (124020a1) ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: ubuntu => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1613158 Title: Booting with Nvidia GTX 970 hangs with an orange screen in kernels 4.7 and 4.8rc1 (but works with 4.4.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1613158/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
