I can confirm that this bug also affects Linux Mint 18, which is based on the 16.04 packages. I'm running it on a ThinkPad T420, which uses the NVS4200M graphics chipset. It's set up as an Optimus graphics card, but I have disabled Optimus in the BIOS and forced the use of the dedicated GPU.
I'm using the same build of nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installed: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Candidate: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Version table: *** 1:1.0.12-1build2 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I can also confirm that switching to nvidia-361 allows the laptop to suspend on lid close for me. Using nouveau with Linux Mint 17.3 also caused this issue for me, though I don't have the details of that install on-hand. I do still have the drive on which it is installed if I need to get info on that. I'm happy to provide any additional information. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1583303 Title: Laptop not going to suspend when lid closed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1583303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
