Everyone who is not able to scan, please try scanning as root: sudo simple-scan
sudo scanimage ... Does this work? Also run strace scanimage -L > log 2>&1 and attach the "log" file (uncompressed) to this bug report. In the "log" file search for lines containing "epson" or "EPSON".
