You can check in the diagnostics under security and privacy provided
reporting was originally enabled.

I am not clear how the device could show connected if the password was not 
correct, it should have popped up the connect dialog.
Was this a hidden network? 
There is no UI to edit the password from the list of APs, you can only forget 
it.
