I'm the proud owner of a Acer Aspire VN7-792G Nitro and I'm encountering the same internal microphone problem. I've carefully read all the posts above and I focused on the link in comment #13. One thing seems to me pretty sure: snd_soc_skl won't detect hardware on the above mentioned machine because the later has Intel SST named "Sunrise Point-H" (ID: 8086:A170), which is not supported by the snd_soc_skl driver (only Sunrise Point-LP 8086:9D70 is listed). I'm pretty convinced an entry for Sunrise Point-H must be added to skylake/skl.c. I've tried locally updating as above: the snd_soc_skl driver then recognizes the device. However this is not sufficient: there are probably additional things to do to make it work... or maybe this is a conflict with snd_hda_intel ??? This is out of my current knowledge.
