Just an update on this bug...I accidentally stumbled across a cure for this tonight. Udev was eating up 100% of my CPU usage. I poked around on the forums and many people were recommending removing Evms. The minute I did that, my CPU usage went back to normal and the constant polling of my drive stopped. I have no idea if this relates to the kernel or not, or if there was an upgrade to Evms at the same time as the kernel and it's all a coincidence. Either way, this is what fixed it for me. Which is nice since I couldn't even open the drive without it immediately closing.
