It looks like you have upgraded from an older version of Ubuntu and were using the proprietary NVidia driver on that older version. Is this correct? If so, it looks like the proprietary NVidia driver was not configured/upgraded correctly during the Ubuntu upgrade. Try installing the proprietary NVidia driver packages again or perform a fresh Ubuntu install. The proprietary NVidia driver packages are nvidia-340 and nvidia-340-updates.
