The bug is still present on 2.6.22-14-generic, isight can be initialized only at 320x240:
gst-launch-0.10 v4l2src ! video/x-raw- yuv,format=\(fourcc\)UYVY,width=320,height=240 ! ffmpegcolorspace ! ximagesink otherwise it freezes (on all attempts at 640x480 or by using gstreamer based applications like cheese that defaults to 640x480).
