If you put a slash in the filename, it fails to write it. This means
that filenames are not being correctly sanitized.

It is very natural to put a slash in a filename from gnome-screenshot
because that is how dates are delimited in the US.

Filenames should be sanity checked and sanitized by some standard means.
They should probably not be interpreted as paths.
