Public bug reported:

Per the 10/3/2016 post for bug 1574347, I'm submitting my own bug for no
wifi interface and the wrong icon on the network-manager applet on a
Thinkpad T440p running 16.04 LTS. Even though I see the wifi
disconnected icon and no wifi networks in the applet drop down, I am
still connected to a network and can access the internet.

Wireless card information:
$ lspci -v

        Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

$ nmcli dev

nmtui does not list any active connections.

network-manager 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 installed.

It seems to run like this for a while, including several wake/sleep
cycles but then eventually won't connect at all and then I end up
restarting.

Please let me know if any other information would be helpful. Thank you.
