The original bug is just an annoyance in my opinion and a cornercase as
well.  From what I can tell it makes it impossible to get extended
attributes for any file, but only if you have a mixed i386/amd64
environment, run the amd64 kernel while having i386 e2fsprogs.  The
impact of that should be pretty low.

Not being able to take a snapshot on the other hand is a pretty hefty
problem.
