Just to update my earlier comment #203, I still had this bug occur occasionally even afterwards, though at a reduced rate. After doing some more testing recently, I've been able to avoid this problem completely by turning off the System-monitor extension in Gnome tweak tool. I was then able to revert my change in #203 with no issues.
