Adding gnome-power-manager because I noticed that *crash only occurs when suspending using g-p-m methods*, i.e. closing the lid, using Quit -> Sleep, or pressing the power button.
When I use /etc/acpi/sleep/sh force, either from the console or from an X terminal, everything is working fine, and I return to my X session flawlessly. This may be related to the screensaver too. I should add that when resuming, my computer freezes with a black screen, and I only see the cursor (with the shape of text typing, not the standard arrow). I can't go to a console nor use Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot. It is no random at all so, it always occurs when suspending with UI methods. ** Summary changed: - [Gutsy][regression] Random crash when suspending to RAM + [Gutsy][regression] Crash when suspending to RAM using gome-power-manager ** Description changed: - Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22 + Suspend to RAM doesn't work when I use standard ways to do so. When I + use /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force, everything goes right. Else, my system + hangs when returning from suspend, only showing a black screen with the + text-typing cursor. - Suspend to RAM doesn't work sometimes, but I couldn't find out when. - Looks like it's hanging randomly when returning from suspend. It used to - work right all the time in Feisty, and now Hibernate still works - flawlessly. - - I've tried to get more info following the page DebuggingKernelSuspend on the wiki, but with this method, I could'nt get a crash (maybe because it's related or because it's random - I'll try more). Still in dmesg I've found this (see attached): - kernel: [ 10.565517] Magic number: 7:915:530 + It used to work right all the time in Feisty, and now Hibernate still + works flawlessly. I use Gutsy since kernel 2.6.22-12 I guess ('ls /boot/'). $ uname -r 2.6.22-13-generic I could not find a duplicate but I cruelly lack more information to check, what should I do more? -- [Gutsy][regression] Crash when suspending to RAM using gome-power-manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149842 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
