Public bug reported: After successfully activating a dialup modem on network-manager and connecting to the internet: 1)Although everything seems fine no internet related applications seem to work 2)The connection disconnects regardless of any timeout settings 3)Ubuntu reconnects and #1 and 2 are repeated with the connection having no functionality. Disabling the connection in network-manager does nothing in fact deleting the ppp settings does nothing either and only a: killall pppd will stop the crazy loop.
Just to make sure there's nothing wrong with my modem I was able to connect to the internet and work fine using pppconfig. This issue is quite severe as not everyone knows about pppconfig and newcomers would likely dump this distro after the nice gui app that's supposed to setup their internet doesn't work. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- network-manager endless looping on dialup https://launchpad.net/bugs/61178 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
