I went back to Feisty using included bcm43xx driver and added firmware to /lib/firmware, worked first time at full 54G speeds. That was until a kernel update yesterday and now the erratic and slow speeds are back, tried both bcm43xx and ndiswrapper methods, but its now just as bad as it was in gutsy..sigh.
