Hi Thomas, Thanks for your response. You were right, the problem was with my hardware.
I plugged in the Sony to a Mac, and tried burning to the same media there. It didn't work. I found an old Plextor PX 712SA and plugged it into my Linux Mint box and retried the burn with the previously-failing media, and it worked. Before I ran these tests, I was thinking this couldn't be a problem with my hardware, because the DVD+RW burn worked. Was it working only by chance? Or is there something different about the OPC phase and DVD+RW media? Thanks for looking at this bug. Please do mark it closed.
