Joseph wrote: Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
I upgraded from 14.04. There was no problem Joseph wrote: Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.10 kernel[0]. Yes, I tested it. There was the same problem. Then I found that my /proc/cpuinfo missed the pae flag. I cleared the apt database and got a clean update. After that my /proc/cpuinfo missed the flag again. After any update with the Ubuntu update assistant the flag is missed again. Now I changed the /etc/default/grub, added forcepae --forcepae to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="forcepae --forcepae", update grub and everything is fine. I am waiting for the next kernel update now. For the moment, the problem seams fixed. Please mark this problem as solved - I don't know how to do that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653019 Title: package linux-image-4.4.0-57-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1653019/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
