The patch exists in yakkety and zesty, but not xenial. I am going to
mark this as incomplete and let the reporter come back if this is still
needed.
If you need a fix for the bug in previous version (e.g. xenial) of
Ubuntu, then the relevant procedure is documented here:

However, I'm not sure this bug would qualify under that policy, although
I am not on the SRU team and cannot make that decision.
