I downloaded lubuntu-16.10-desktop-amd64.iso and created a new VirtualBox VM on my MacBook to install it.
Each time I tried to boot the VM I got that 'NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s!' After reading Keith Burns (alagalah) comment #19, I remembered enabling the USB 3.0 port in the VM.
