Forgot to add.. Compiz-gnome was installed. Emerald not which was installed and used when running Feisty. In Feisty the trevino repository was used. I'll try completely removing compiz and reinstalling again to see if that helps. On Feisty I've also had occasions where fusion-icon failed but it did leave me with borders again.
