I wasn't as precise as I should have been in my last comment: in fact,
lame doesn't crash, but the ETA doesn't progress any further. So
technically, it's freezing.

I further noticed that this behavior cannot be reproduced on my laptop
machine running Feisty as well. The problem only occurs on my server
running the Feisty server edition though I cannot imagine blaming the
server kernel for the fault.

I'll continue observing the issue, do further testing and consider bug
reporting on the lame mailing-list. Thanks for the hint.
