Similar problems with the particularly annoying flashing desktop. With nvidia-graphics-drivers-378 from https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa I can dock to one external monitor using display-port to d-dvi connection. Multiple external monitors remain always duplicated.
