I also found this on my Acer Aspire laptop, which has a Qualcomm WLAN module. The update to 4.8.0-44 seems to have removed the entire directory of wireless driver modules.
The effect is that the hardware isn't recognized at all, which initially led me to suspect a hardware error. I've temporarily solved this by re-enabling the GRUB menu and booting into 4.8.0-41 each time, and I have seen a suggestion to install the "extras" package which I haven't yet tried. This is a serious issue for non-advanced users, who will struggle to figure this out, particularly if they don't have a wired connection readily available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1678309 Title: Driver for realtek card missing from 4.8.0-44, was present in 4.8.0-41 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1678309/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
