Public bug reported:

Not much else to add. GUI installation, booted from USB drive. Have
tried both with install upgrades ticked and unticked. No luck. Crash is
during install and leaves an unusable semi-installed system.

Got here from an automatic crash report - so I presume that will attach
system data, etc.
