Accidentally checked on this as I wanted digiKam mainly for its impressive geolocation UI, and this appear to still be broken in Xenial repos. For those looking, do note that digiKam 5.x came out in the last few months, and the "appimage" packages provided by the team do work just fine over here: https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/
