Did you try this with the new kernel as Ben suggested above? Also, could
you please provide the requested debug information (Which I repeat
below):


Could you please provide the output from lspci by going to 
Applications->Accessories->Terminal

could you also run sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and try to change the
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
...
Option "Protocol" "Auto"

to
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
...
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"

and then doing ctrl alt and backspace but be carfull to have no unsaved
documents open because this will restart your graphic system.

You can attach logs and files when you add a new comment.
