Public bug reported:

When vdpau-copy hardware decoder is used, mpv displays an error such as
this:

The linesize 1280 cannot be represented as uint32

The problem is a bug in ffmpeg that was fixed in 3.3.0 but is present in
3.2.4 which is released in Ubuntu 17.04.
