Public bug reported:
The shutdown applet in the upper right corner is very close to the "X"
of an application that is maximized. This apparently confuses my dad,
who has several times got the shut down dialog when he just wanted to
close a window.
He used Windows XP before, in which the X to close a window is in a red
rectangle. Perhaps putting this applet somewhere else (right next to
System perhaps?) would help.
