Thanks for the fix Sascha, but I just tried it and it doesn't work for me. My problem is slightly different to yours in that my backlight *always* stays on - it never turns off, even for a few seconds. When it should turn off it actually gets pretty bright white in a weird kind of grid pattern which I guess is something to do with the TFT array in the LCD itself.
