Public bug reported:

On a clean install of Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, USB ADSL Modem Manager fails
to work.

It installs fine from the deb files. When opening it displays the icon
in the system tray, but when you put you mouse over it, all it says is
"Starting Up". It should asks about extracting Firmware for the USB
Modem. Right clicking and selecting Extract Firmware does nothing, so
USB ADSL Modems are unusable and so therefore no internet connection for
people with this modem. I am currently having to use Windows to write
this. People will turn away from Ubuntu if this isn't fixed especially
new users who will be put off due to not working with there hardware.

         Status: New
