Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
The Ubuntu upgrade manager fails to get upgrade prequisites in 7.04 -> 7.10 distribution upgrade under vmware vmware server 1.0.4-buid-56528 (Linux (fc6) host). upgrade only proceeds to "preparing th upgrade" phase and after a while displays the error message "getting upgrade prequisites failed: The system was unable to get the prerequisites for the upgrade. The upgrade will abort now and restore the original system state.
