I have a similar Problem: As soon as I turn on the desktop effects my window decorations are gone (they aren't black, they are just gone) and in some programs (e.g. the terminal) the content isn't displayed either. Turning of the desktop effects resolves all the problems. (Which is a rather disappointing workaround.)
