Other than the cgroup path one could also compare
/proc/self/ns/pid vs the /proc/<pid>/ns/pid of those we have found to filter.

After a discussion with our container folks I'd find that safer than relying on 
cgroup via:
cat "/proc/$1/cgroup" | head -1 | cut -f3 -d
