Thanks for your rapid and useful answer. I saw the boot message, but my mother card choose EFI mode, even if I put disk first. Finally I used my entire disk (few data backed up before) with Ubuntu defaults partitions . My home partition is on another disk, it works fine again, and I've just to re-install some packets. Cordially Claude RICHARD

A warning message prompted you that this could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use entire disk" guided install option. ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1697317 Title: installing grub2 packet hang and cannot write in /target/ Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Install option : installing again only ubuntu (not destroying personnal data) on a SSD-disk with the same image (ubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso) (data destroyed in root environnement).
