Hey! I got the same problem, but can only confirm it with the live cd. (it is my "productive" System)
My system is an ACER Aspire 1355 LMI with a built-in Realtek 8180 wireless card. The card works fine without encryption. With encryption the system freezes (even no keyboard shortcuts to kill the X server is wotrking) after entering the key for the 128bit WEP encrypted network. The Caps-Lock diode is flashing! (but not on my external keyboard) on edgy without problems, feisty no chance (the module r8180x is not included- never tried ndiswrapper) Thanks for your effort!!
