I get the same error message when attempting to run `jacksum -h` from jacksum 1.7.0-4.1 on Ubuntu Artful, so I'm marking this as confirmed. It's great to add older releases where the package worked, so that it is easier to track down when the bug was introduced :) But I don't see which release you are currently running? Could you please run the following command (only once) in a terminal to add additional debugging information: apport-collect 1701028 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected.
