Xfce has a mode switch (normal/presentation) in Xfce Power Manager's tray icon menu, but it does not work well with xscreensaver. I have been working on xflock4 script that is used by Xfce for locking. My version will save the dpms state, use decent state while locked, and restore the old state, when unlocked; the system works by non-forking lockers only (i.e. lockers that run on foreground). The script could be used as lxlock if modified slightly. See https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10217
