I know it's a dirty workaround, anyway here it is some useful info.
Just a note: I'm using a late 2011 iMac, with triple boot (OSX, Windows 10, 
Ubuntu), and using refind as boot manager.
I was using Ubuntu 16.04 before this upgrade.
