I'm using GNU/Linux Mint 18.2 MATE 64 bits with Mate 1.18.3 so now.

About desktop Panels, we can place many kind of things.

Really useful are Launchers, like application launchers but also Place
Launchers like Launcher to a template document or launcher to a folder,
etc.

But for now, Place type Launchers appears to don't be able to be no more
:(

All ways failed !

On updates machine (from Mint 18.1 to 18.2), Place Launchers are
disappeared !

If I drag and drop some file or folder from Caja to Panel, that should
create Place Launcher but no more now, nothing seam to happen :(

If I right-click on Panel, then select Add... The liste of all we can
place on a Panel appear. If a double-click then on “Customized Launcher”
(in French « Lanceur d'application personnalisé », the dialogue box
appear well... and I can select the Type : Place (« Emplacement » in
French). But yet, the Browse button dialogue only can select file, no
folder. We can edit Place text zone. But when click on the OK button («
Valider » in French) again nothing seam to happen and no nothing new
appear on the Panel :(

For some things, the "solution" can be a Application type Launcher, with
a Caja based command to open folder or file. But it's probably not all-
time the same thing. Or why propose Place Launcher type then?

Again, for 18.1→18.2 users it appear as a misunderstood regression.
