Note1: I upgraded to the full release of Gutsy 7.10 (still using 1:6.7.195-1ubuntu2) and configured my resolution the same way as stated on the above post (2007-10-13).
Note2: I still get the same results as stated on the above post (2007-10-13). If I run without xorg.conf, gdm still defaults to 1280x768 @ 60. Now when I login, the maximum resolution is 1280x800 @ 60. I am attaching my Xorg.0.log.
